Jiangsu conducts grain reserve inspections amid food security push

Jiangsu province’s grain stockpiling agency announced on Thursday that it was conducting inspections and supervision activities in the province’s grain industry.

The team’s work includes visiting companies in the industry to learn more about their operations, inspections of grain storage sites, and gathering details about the situation of grain purchases and storage.

In the announcement, the bureau reiterated that food security is an important foundation to national security and that it was important to conduct special investigation and rectification work.

Grain reserves have attracted increased government attention over the past year with several grain company and grain stockpile managers being charged with corruption as the country is increasingly focused on food security amid high global inflation and supply disruptions.
