Pork price in China falls to two-month low amid herd-dumping
Pork prices in China edged lower in the first month of 2022 after rising for three consecutive months due to pre-holiday demand.
The average wholesale pork price in the country dipped below the level of 23 yuan/kg (US$3,608/ton) for the first time since October 2021, data from China’s Ministry of Agriculture and Rural Affair showed.
The price level is down nearly 3% from the previous month and has plunged more than 45% year on year.
