Live hog prices have fallen to the lowest level since October as large supplies and weak demand weigh on prices ahead of the Chinese New Year holiday.
China’s state planner National Development and Reform Commission (NDRC) has issued a tier 3 level alert, the lowest level, for excessive declines in margins as the ratio of hog prices to feed prices has slipped to 5.75:1 for the period January 10-14 this year.
