Rise in corn prices supports wheat in central China

Wheat prices in Hubei are higher by 9 yuan per ton after the holiday and are at their highest level since August 2024. Hubei’s grain stockpiling agency mostly attributes the rise in wheat prices to the strength in corn prices in northern and northeastern China. They note corn prices in some areas of Hubei were up by 60 yuan per ton compared to before the holiday, and there was a reluctance of grain holders to sell.
