Higher temperatures in February helped to mitigate some of the effects of late planting of winter wheat due to insufficient growing degree days.
Going into the overwintering period, accumulated degree days in Henan were 35% lower than normal and 38% lower than the same time last year. Higher temperatures in February helped to narrow this gap, but all the major wheat-producing provinces are still lagging compared to historical averages and are also lagging relative to last year.
