In its June WASDE report, the USDA increased China’s 2025/26 barley imports by 500k tons to 12 million tons, noting faster shipments from Australia.
For the marketing year starting in October, China has imported 7.5 million tons of barley through April. This is the second-highest on record, behind 2023/24, which was at 10.1 million tons through April. Imports have been strong due to higher domestic corn prices following crop losses in northern China last October.
