Barley imports hit record high in May

China’s imports of barley hit a new record in May with imports of 1.82 million tons. This exceeded the previous record imports of 1.72 million tons in March 2024. In 2026, China has imported 6.7 million tons of barley, up 47.8% year on year, following stronger feed demand due to damage to the corn crop in northern China last year.
