Retail spending grows in June following decline in May; GDP growth slows

Retail spending grew by 1.0% year on year in June, following a decline of 0.6% in May. This exceeded forecasts for a decline of 0.1%. Spending at restaurants grew by 1.2%, but spending at large restaurant chains grew by only 0.1%. Spending on groceries continues to grow at a strong pace, up 7.9% year on year. GDP growth was 4.3% in Q2, below estimates for growth of 4.5%, and down from 5.0% in Q1....
