Shanxi releases hog capacity plan, with only small cuts to target

Shanxi province released its hog capacity plan for 2026, targeting a breeding sow population of 590k hogs and 3400 large farms. This is a 1.8% reduction compared to its plan from 2024, which targeted a breeding sow population of 600k and 3500 large farms. For comparison, Shandong was the first to announce its 2026 reduction, targeting a 4.6% decrease in breeding sows compared to its 2024 targets, and Hunan is targeting an 8.1% decline.
