Pork output and hog herd in China spiked in 2021 along with a general uptick of economic activities in the world’s second largest economy, latest government data showed Monday.
Pork output surged more than 28% on the year to nearly 53 million tons, the highest level since 2018, according to data published by China’s National Bureau of Statistics.
Hog herd grew more than 10% year on year to more than 449 million heads – a level maintained in China before the African swine fever (ASF) epidemic.
